Child Care Center Advice
You get a baby, and all you want is to take care of that little new human being. But life goes on and you go look for a child care center. You just have to feel confident in the place and the people who are going to take care of your little darling. When it comes to our children, we have to make the most intuitive decisions possible. One slip-up could result with dire consequences. This notion hit me like a ton of bricks once it came time for my daughter to start pre-school/daycare. She was only three years old at the time and I had to commute to a University every morning an hour away. Since my wife was at work from 8-5, I had to be certain the child care centre we chose was perfectly safe. Like many parents, I have heard the horror stories. Fortunately I found one that passed my little tests. This offered my peace-of-mind throughout my day at school. Are you content and confident in your child’s care center?
What can one do to check out a child care centre these days? Well, to be honest, there are several precautions that can be taken. The first is to check the child care center’s credentials. How well is this place rated, and have there been any complaints? Secondly, you should examine the child care centre thoroughly with your own two eyes. When I was originally in the market for a good daycare/pre-school, I was shocked at a local YMCA, which I felt looked unsafe for small children. The stairwells are what caught my eye. Third, ask tons of questions. This is your right. You NEED to know that your child is going to be cared for in the right manner. Find out the daily schedule they offer and how many other children are attending. And finally, one thing you should always do is check the security of the child care centre. Walk in and see how well-guarded the children are. I did this the first day I walked in. Almost immediately I was asked what I could be helped with and all the children were being watched in a single room. This was awesome. The employees weren’t about to let me just walk in and interact with any children. After all, they didn’t know me yet. This security made me feel great about the child care centre overall.
Take your time when scoping out child care centers and daycares. It’s always better to find the best one, rather than the one that’s simply closest to your home or cheapest. Get to know the person or persons your child will be spending his/her day with. Let your intuition do the rest.
